Inria Serif and Inria Sans

We have designed a new typeface family for Inria. It comes Serif and Sans Serif, each with 3 weights and matching italics. We are pleased to announce that the fonts can be used for free.

Because Black[Foundry] and Inria believe in spreading of knowledge, the fonts are available under an Open Font Licence on our github page where you will also find the design source files.

The Inria type system reflects 4 important values for the institute.

The Sans and the Serif fonts are perfectly compatible in terms of proportions and weights. Nevertheless, they convey two different voices because of the two slightly different structures. These enable the creation of interesting graphic contrasts, between display and text sizes.
